19th Century French Comtoise Grandfather Clock with Automated Pendulum
A French Country comtoise, or grandfather clock, with polychrome painted pine case and embossed brass pendulum. Original seven day Morbier movement, professionally cleaned and in working order, having an enamel face signed by the clockmaker, Damien-Delmontel and made in Périgueux (in Southwestern France). This clock features an automated pendulum with a horse pulling a cart, the man and the horse's head rising up and down as the pendulum swings back and forth. Pendulum and clock surround have matching embossed, hand painted decoration in blue, white, red and green. The dark stained case is signed. Note: this is a married piece, the clock and pendulum were not found with this case. but fits very nicely. Circa 1880-1900. 89"H x 19.25"W x 8.25"D. Please refer to photos for more details.
