19th c French Tall Case Clock or Horloge De Parquet

$3,500.00

A fine early 19th century French Horloge De Parquet, or tall case clock, from Provence made of solid walnut. The case is in three parts with paneled sides and beautiful hand carvings: a trio of fleur-de-lis at the base and a lyre and ribboned floral swag on the door, (sign of belonging to an aristocrat). The top has a chapeau de gendarme crown and the original glass panes. Note: the center pane has a hairline, but is not very noticeable. The 19th century Morbier movement has been added to fit the case and it is in working condition keeping a good time. Chimes on the hour and once on the half. New Pendulum. Rear escapement. Professionally cleaned and in working order. Good craftsmanship with pegged and mortise and tenon construction. Beautiful wood grain with waxed patina. Original brass hardware. Minor restoration on the feet. Please refer to photos for more details. Circa 1800-1820.
