19th Century French Comtoise or Grandfather Clock

A French Comtoise comprised of painted pine with polychrome paint. Flowers are painted on a faux painted wood. Straw is etched from this finish as well. This seven day clock features a working movement which strikes a domed bell on the hour and half hour. As with all Morbier clocks, it also strikes two minutes after the hour and two minutes after the half. This clock was sold by Tissier of St. Pourcain. The brass repousse face surround is shaped into birds and flowers. Circa 1880-1900. 92”h x 18.5”w x 9”d
