A 19th century Napoleon III French doré bronze mantel clock by Philippe H. Mourey. Fine casting of a braconnièr, or poacher, leaning casually with his rifle and powder horn in a woodland setting. Bright gilt bronze patina. Carved onyx base with bronze decoration. Clock has an enamel face, hand-painted with Roman numerals and is in working condition, striking on the hour and on the half hour. Impressed mark on back of bronze: P.H. MOUREY Philippe H. Mourey (1840-1910) was a master French sculptor and had a close association with Japy Freres & Company, the noted 19th century Paris clockmaker. Circa 1860. Shipping: $75
