19th Century French Comtoise Grandfather Clock


A 19th Century Country French comtoise, or grandfather clock, with polychrome painted pine case and embossed brass pendulum. Original seven day Morbier movement, professionally cleaned and in working order, having an enamel face signed by the clockmaker, Chavignier Frères at Caudiès in Southern France. Pendulum and clock surround have matching embossed, hand painted decoration with pastel green, pink, blue and white flowers. A portion of the left outside edge of the clock surround has oxidized resulting in a small loss of pigment. Circa 1880-1900. 89.75"H x 19.5"W x 8.5"D
