A Chinese Art Deco pictorial landscape wool rug from Baotou in the Inner Mongolia region. Beautifully scenic view of a village on a lake surrounded by mountains with trees, houses, a pagoda and a bridge or aqueduct. Rich saturated color, the main color field predominantly indigo blue, with orange, tans, green, mauve and pink. A variation in the length of the pile lends a three dimension quality to the houses. Nicely detailed border design with a band of orange fret or key pattern, and a wider band of quatrefoil in pink and tan. In overall good condition with vibrant color and showing little wear.
