A set of six 19th century French hand colored lithographs from the series entitled La Rigolbochomanie depicting the craze surrounding the celebrated can-can dancer Rigolboche. The volume of lithographs was created by the artist Charles Vernier (1831-1887) and published in Paris by Maison Martinez and printed by Lith. Destouches. Gold tone frames with pink mats. Minor losses. Paper with some foxing. Circa 1860-1880.

The title La Rigolbochomanie translates to "the Rigolboche-mania," referring to the intense public fascination with the dancer Marguerite Badel (1842–1920). Known by her stage name Rigolboche, she was famous for helping popularize and develop the can-can dance between 1855 and 1860, becoming a Parisian celebrity whose image was highly sought after.
