19th Century French Directoire Commode or Chest of Drawers

An early 19th Century French Directoire Period commode made of solid cherry wood with yellow pine as a secondary wood. Unusual form with serpentine sides. Rounded fluted front corners with short turned tapered legs. A well-crafted chest with two large dovetailed drawers and a pull-out tray above. Original cast brass pulls and escutcheons, new brass knobs on tray. No keys. Pegged construction. Waxed patina. Great proportions. Small piece of trim missing above the back right leg. Circa 1800-1820.
