18th Century Louis XV Period Commode or Chest of Drawers

A fine 18th Century Louis XV Period commode from the town of Nimes in Provence. Made of solid walnut with serpentine front and raised panels on the sides. Pegged construction with waxed finish. Beautiful hand carved foliate decoration including an elaborate pierced apron and large acanthus leaves on the front corners. Four curved legs ending in scroll toes. Two large dovetailed drawers provide ample storage. Working locks and two keys. The bronze hardware is in the style of the period but is new and not original to the piece. The top has been replaced. Sign of old worms on the back but not active. Please refer to pictures for more details. Circa 1740-1760. 50"W x 28"D x 35.5"H
