A 19th century Biedermeier glass paned hexagonal glazed vitrine from Eastern Europe. Fine craftsmanship with slim proportions. Unusual six-sided shape with mirrored back, designed to maximize display visibility. Made of highly prized veneer of elm wood with beautiful grain pattern and rich amber hue. Black painted interior and full length glass paneling divided by slender wood muntins. Substantial curved stepped plinth base with hidden dovetailed drawer. Door has inlaid escutcheon and working lock and key. Interior provides ample storage and display space with four removable shelves. Pine as a secondary wood. One glass pane on back left side has a small crack in the corner, otherwise very good condition. Circa 1870-1880
