19th Century Louis XV Style Bonnetière or Display Cabinet
A 19th century French Louis XV style bonnetière, or display cabinet, from Normandy made of solid oak. Beautiful hand-carved decoration with a pair of lovebirds beneath the crown, ribbons flower garlands at the top and music instruments on the apron. In two parts, a glass paned vitrine rests on a small cabinet and must be fastened at the back. The vitrine has the original glass pane and opens to a painted interior with three shelves. The cabinet has a dovetailed drawer above a cabinet door that was converted from two drawers. Decorative iron latches and ring pulls. Large chapeau de gendarme crown.
