19th Century Napoleon III Lacquered Tilt-Top Table
An exquisite 19th century French Napoleon III style tilt top guéridon. This pedestal table features a scalloped edge, black lacquered top with hand painted floral decoration, gilded rocaille motifs and mother-of pearl inlays. The table rests on a turned and carved wooden tripod base with hand-painted floral decoration and original brass casters. The top is designed to tilt, allowing for vertical storage and display of its decorative top. Typical style of the Second French Empire characterized by opulent and eclectic design, blending influences like Renaissance, Louis XV, Louis XVI and exotic elements inspired by the Far East. In good overall condition with old restoration on the legs. Circa 1870-1890
