A 19th century French Provincial green glazed terracotta water jug, know as an orjol or cruche. Beautiful variegated color with vibrant shades of jade and emerald green glaze over a yellow and warm ochre underglaze with yellow glazed interior. In good condition with minor chips, typical of age and use. Originating from Southwestern France and the Languedoc-Provence regions, these rustic earthenware ewers typically feature a rounded bulbous body with two strap handles, one handle hollowed out to function simultaneously as the pouring spout.
