A 19th century brass wall mounted coat and hat rack from a train car in the French railway SNCF (Societe National des Chemins de Fer). Three cast wall brackets support two square tubular rails with twelve hooks that slide along the rail creating adjustable hanging space for coats, hats, and accessories. The brass has been polished, but not lacquered. An end cap is missing from the left side bracket. A stylish and practical addition to an entryway or hallway. Circa 1880-1900.
