An exceptional Louis XV style giltwood parclose mirror. Elaborate crest with large shell form flanked by dolphins and swirling acanthus leaves. Beautiful carved details include fleur de lis motifs in the corners and small flower bouquets on the sides. Warm, vibrant gilt finish. Original mirror with old silvered patina. Minor loss to carving and to the gilt at bottom edge. Small touch-ups to gilt and painted sides, as found. Circa 1900-1920
