An 18th century French Louis XV commode, or chest of drawers, from the Bordeaux region made of solid mahogany. Nice proportions and bombé form with serpentine front. Original Rouge Royale marble top is 1.25" thick. Four dovetailed drawers with cast brass pulls. Hardware is new but in the style of the period. Subtle carved details include a scalloped apron with shell motif and scroll toes. Excellent craftsmanship using pegged construction. Waxed patina with finish retaining a nice luster. Minor restoration on one right foot. Circa 1740-1760. 44"W x 27"D x 33.75"H
