19th Century Louis XV Normandy Armoire

19th Century Louis XV Normandy Armoire
An early 19th century Louis XV country French bridal armoire from Normandy. Made of pine with fine hand-carving throughout, including a three dimensional flower basket below the crown, floral bouquets at the top of each door and hearts in the upper corners. The door center panels each have beautiful carved relief depicting a torch and quiver tied with a ribbon, a neoclassical motif representing emblems of love. Original iron hardware, with new working lock and key. The interior has three shelves. Waxed patina. Good craftsmanship using pegged construction. Minor loss to carved bouquet. This armoire was imported from France in the 1960s, restored at some point and cannot be dismantled. Circa 1800-1820.
