An early 19th Century French hall tree made of chestnut. This was originally the front framework of a traditional Brittany lit clos (enclosed bed). The cabinet doors have been removed and five large pegs were added at the top to hang coats and hats. Elaborate decoration includes marquetry inlay, pierced wheels and tiny turned wood spindles. Waxed patina. A nice architectural ornament for use as a hall tree, mirror frame or mantle. Circa 1800-1820. 70.5"W 6"D x 60"H
