19th c. Country French Slant Top Desk

A 19th c. Country French slant top desk with bookcase. Made of solid cherry with waxed patina. The top part has original glass paned doors opening to a single adjustable shelf above three dovetailed drawers with turned wood knobs. This desk was was likely used in a lawyer's office, with two slant tops that hinge open to reveal three locking interior drawers for storing documents. Good proportions with curved front legs. All original with locks in working order and three keys. This would be a nice work desk for a kitchen area with the cabinet above for display of plates and serving pieces. Circa 1860-1880. In overall very good condition with only some shrinkage to the central panels of the slant tops, leaving slight gaps that have been filled and restored. 80.5"h x 51"w x 27"d Clearance of apron: 26.5" Interior depth of bookshelf: 8.5"
