19th Century Adjustable Tray Table

A 19th Century Swiss adjustable tilt-top tray table, with cast brass mechanism. A well-crafted table made of solid walnut with a sturdy turned post. Beautiful character and patina of the wood with waxed finish. Tabletop may be tilted flat or angled and has a small latched ledge on each side (note: one latch is missing) and it also may be centered over the post and slides to one side. The height adjusts from 31” to 42”. Base has wheels that are slightly worn and do not roll smoothly. All original. The cast brass mechanism is stamped by the maker: A. Mauchain, Geneve. Marketed as the "Table-Eclipse", a table of multiple uses, the patented design won a gold medal at the 1889 Paris Exposition.
