19th c. Biedermeier Demilune Console Jardiniere


A unique early 19th c. Biedermeier demi-lune console table/jardiniere with original gray veined marble top. Beautiful birdseye maple veneer with a decorative band of marquetry inlay. The marble top removes to reveal the original zinc liner for use as a jardiniere or planter. Perfect for the display of ferns or orchids. Oak as a secondary wood. French polish finish. Minor restoration: a piece of 1/4 round trim has been replaced at the top. Veneer has been replaced on both sides at the bottom near the back. The veneer on the base has some shrinkage.
