A French Country comtoise, or grandfather clock, with polychrome painted pine case and embossed brass pendulum. Original seven day Morbier movement, professionally cleaned and in working order, having an enamel face signed by the clockmaker, Aventin Larrouy and made in Mano (Mano is in Landes in Southwestern France). Excellent quality, with both Roman and Arabic numbers. This clock features an automated pendulum with a horse pulling a cart, the man and the horse's head rising up and down as the pendulum swings back and forth. Pendulum and clock surround have matching embossed, hand painted decoration in pale blue, white, red and green. Original glass door panes. A support has been added to the back of the feet at the base. Written inscription on the inside of pendulum door indicates this clock was installed in 1913 and in 1935 it was oiled by the clockmaker.
