Early 19th Century French Armoire or Wardrobe

A large early 19th century French armoire from Burgundy, made of solid walnut. Three book-matched panels of burled walnut with boldly patterned knots are nicely framed on each door. Interior has two shelves and one shelf with three dovetailed drawers and a hidden compartment on the bottom.Hand-carved grapes vines decorate the top under a chapeau de gendarme crown with bead border. This unusual armoire has a rare design feature: three hidden doors on each side that open to reveal shallow cabinet spaces with shelves. Original iron hardware. Doors have working locks and keys with the exception of the middle doors of the sides. Waxed patina. Circa 1800-1820. 
24.5"D x 56.5"W (60.5"W at crown) x 94.25"H (100.5"H to top of crown) 
Interior depth is 18" Bottom plank has been replaced.
