A French comtoise or grandfather clock with polychrome painted pine case and brass pendulum. Seven day clock, in working condition and professionally cleaned, strikes on the hour, two minutes after the hour and once on the half. The third hand is the day of the week. The clock maker's name is on the face: Gauzy, Horloge de Geneve. A nice clock with large proportions and beautiful painted decoration. In very good condition but the pendulum door is warped and cannot be closed all the way, leaving a half inch gap at the bottom. Circa 1880-1900. 92"h x 23.5"w x 9.5"d
